The Blue Jays could be interested in trading for Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar
A proposed trade was put online that would see Addison Barger and prospect pitcher Kendry Rojas sent over to the Cardinals in exchange for Lars Nootbaar which many fans seem to like.
. @CardinalsReek Kendry Rojas + Addison Barger for Lars Nootbaar.
Thoughts? Concerns?
This trade does make sense when looking at the fact that the Blue Jays are in need of an outfielder but when looking at offense it does not.
Nootbaar is a solid outfield but is a very average hitter putting up 12 homeruns and 45 RBIs with a .244 batting average and .342 on base percentage for the Cardinals last season.
Using Barger to go acquire some missing pieces seems to be a good idea since they do not have room for him on their current lineup and could possibly get a good return for him but bringing in another average hitter will not help.
However, many fans in the comments seem to be on board with this trade stating that they would make this move in a heartbeat regardless on Nootbaar's lack of offense.
If the Blue Jays end up trading Barger, the ideal move would be to land either a solid hitter or a good relief pitcher to help with their bullpen issues.
Even if the Blue jays do not trade for Nootbaar, the chances of Barger starting the season with the Blue Jays seems to be slim.
