The Toronto Blue Jays ended up missing out on Juan Soto as he signed a historic deal with the New York Mets but the Blue Jays offer has finally been leaked.
The Blue Jays final offer to Juan Soto has finally been leaked
The Blue Jays ended up falling short once again in back to back years as they did last year when going after Shohei Ohtani but the good news this year is that the fan base did not believe that they had a chance in landing Soto.
According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Blue Jays offered Soto the same number as the Yankees at $760 million but were at 15 years instead of the Yankees 16 years, meaning they were only $5 million behind the Mets.
The Toronto Blue Jays joined the Yankees at $760M for Juan Soto, per @JonHeyman
Unfortunately for the Blue Jays this pretty much means that Soto had more faith in the Mets plan moving forward than the Blue Jays since it was surely not the $5 million that made a difference.
The Blue Jays now have to look at other options for offense as their lineup desperately needs another hitter to pair with Vladimir Guerrero Jr as he cannot win them games by himself.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider even stated that the team needs to find some offense this winter to help out Guerrero and did state that the team is far from done this off-season which is encouraging.
While the market no longer has anyone of Soto's caliber offensively the Blue Jays could still land a solid player such as Anthony Santander or Teoscar Hernandez.
If the Blue Jays are unable to land an offensive player to help out in 2025, they will likely have no chance at making the playoffs next year.
