Toronto Blue Jays fan base is still processing the news that Vladimir Guerrero junior was not resigned to a long-term contract and Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro gave his blunt assessment about the Blue Jays young superstar.

Is it NOW time for the Blue Jays to move on from Ross Atkins and Mark Shapiro?

During the press conference after the self-imposed deadline had passed from Guerrero junior, Shapiro explained the position that the Blue Jays are in and how they will proceed over the next nine months regarding contracts and their views about Vladdy.

Blue Jays management did not value Guerrero Jr as high as rest of MLB

«I'll let you know in nine months,» Shapiro told reporters in Dunedin on Tuesday morning. «We are certainly positioned well. We have the financial wherewithal to pursue the contracts we want to pursue.» Mark Shapiro

It became clear that the Blue Jays management team felt less desired towards Guerrero Jr and willing to hand over hundreds of millions of dollars to the 25-year-old superstar. Shapiro even reluctantly avoided giving the generational talent tag to Guerrero junior when asked at the end of the 2024 season.
"We couldn't align on a common number... a lot of progress was made." Mark Shapiro shares why he thinks the Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. couldn't agree on an extension.

All this being said, Guerrero Jr spoke out after the deadline passed and his body language and disappointment clearly was evident while his interpreter answered questions regarding a potential deal and how far apart, they truly were.

Dark cloud sits over Spring training for Blue Jays

What was supposed to be a new season with hope that the Blue Jays could have a better outcome may not be the case as this dark cloud of uncertainty for the franchise will remain for the foreseeable future.
.No Blue Jays fan should buy Mark Shapiro's crocodile tears over losing Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Manager John Schneider will have a tough task in trying to get some of his players ready to play the season knowing that Vladdy will be on his way to free agency and have 29 other general managers speaking to him along with his agent
preparing to throw as much cash as they'd like to him.
It remains to be seen on how the team will perform, but these players are professionals, and many expect them to continue to play as well as they can especially Bo Bichette and Guerrero Jr as both could be exiting the Blue Jays at the end of the year as free agents looking for their richest contract.
