MLB Network released proposed trade details between the Blue Jays and Cubs for Cody Bellinger
The MLB Network posted a graphic yesterday in which included an interesting trade proposal between the Blue Jays and the Cubs which would see Toronto acquire outfielder Cody Bellinger.
The proposed trade would see the former MVP head over to the Blue Jays in exchange for third baseman Ernie Clement, Shortstop prospect Arjun Nimmala and Right handed pitcher Jake Bloss.
Thoughts on @RAJr_20 's hypothetical trade centered around Cody Bellinger?
If this deal was an actually possibility it would make a ton of sense for the Blue Jays especially if they would be able to hold onto Clement and replace him in the offer with another prospect.
Trading away Clement would put the Blue Jays in a tough position because they would be fixing their outfielder issues by bringing in Bellinger but would have a new hole in their infield.
Bellinger would also be a great pick up since he could bring some solid offense to the plate for Toronto even if his game has been on the decline over the last few seasons, he still but up solid numbers in 2023 and 2024.
While this trade is clearly a lot shot, Atkins needs to start looking at all possibilities in terms of bringing in offense as it should be one of their biggest priorities this off-season.
