Vladimir Guerrero Jr held a press conference this morning before the start of Spring Training announcing that he was unable to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the Blue Jays.
Star slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays did not reach an agreement on a contract extension before his Monday-night deadline.
Guerrero stated that the Blue Jays were unwilling to raise their offer as he had his asking price and they have their number but the two parties were too far apart.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. tells reporters in Dunedin, Fla. that he did not agree to an extension with the Blue Jays.
"They had their numbers, I had my numbers."
Instead, he's headed for free agency after the season at age 26.
The Blue Jays star also added that he has no plan on talking about an extension during the season and will be waiting for next off-season to discuss a new deal with the Blue Jays and all other teams.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. said he does not plan to negotiate a potential contract extension in-season, paving the way for him to reach free agency in November.
