Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman has been making headlines after mocking MLB commissioner Rob Manfred online after recent interview.
Manfred has been trying to make the game of baseball more entertaining to the average fan as he has implemented new rules such as the pitching clock and is looking to add more such as the golden bat rule.
Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman mocks MLB commissioner Rob Manfred online
A video of the MLB commissioner speaking on trying to make the game more entertaining and easier to market has been going viral as Manfred speaks on wanting for force starting pitchers to pitch longer into games.
Rob Manfred acknowledged that MLB needs to improve its marketing of the game through the starting pitcher.
As for a minimum innings rule: «It's just too blunt an instrument to fix this problem.»
Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman saw this post and could not resist stating that no one should believe a word Manfred has to say then went onto mock him by saying that if a pitcher does not make it through 6 innings a fan has to be that team's DH for the rest of the game.
Don't believe a word this man says. Get ready for 6 innings you get to keep the DH, if not a fan hits in their spot
Clearly Gausman is not a fan of the MLB commissioner and he is not the first to speak out against him.
Fans and players understand that Manfred is trying to make the game more marketable but also feel like he is ruining the game of baseball.
One of the key reasons for this is that many players believe that the implementing the pitch clock has caused pitchers to hurt themselves on a more regular basis since they are rushing to throw the ball before the clock expires.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays ask Gausman to keep his opinion to himself in the future.
