The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be very interested in free agent Anthony Santander and despite many believing they are the favorites to land him, things have begun to take a turn for the worse.
The Blue Jays seem to have some serious competition for free agent Anthony Santander
According to reports, the New York Yankees have shown interest in the Santander in the last few days and the interest seems to be mutual as the former Orioles outfielder would apparently like to play for the Yankees.
According to Erik Boland of Newsday, the Yankees are eyeing Anthony Santander and the interest is "mutual"
Last season he hit 44 HRs with a 129 wRC+ with the Orioles.
The issue is that the Yankees have a lot more to offer at the current time than the Blue Jays as they made it to the World Series last season while the Blue Jays did not even make the playoffs.
Toronto will likely have to outbid the Yankees if they want to land Santander as if he is looking to play for a team with a chance of competing for the World Series he will likely be inclined to sign with the Yankees.
On top of the Yankees, it looks like the Houston Astros also have some interest in Santander but it seems like the Blue Jays are still ahead of them in terms of likelihood to sign him.
The #BlueJays are still considered the favorite to land Santander but the #Astros are making a late push to sign the free agent.
The Yankees seem to be the only real threat and hopefully the Blue Jays will find a way to outbid them if they end up missing out on Teoscar Hernandez.
