MLB insider Jim Bowden made an announcement regarding conversations heating up between the Toronto Blue Jays and Alex Bregman.

The Blue Jays have been looking different options to improve their offense for the 2025 season and been linked to multiple player such as Teoscar Hernandez, Anthony Santander and now Alex Bregman.

The Blue Jays are interested in free agent Alex Bregman according to MLB insider Jim Bowden

The Blue Jays need quite a few things this off season but it seems like finding a good hitter is at the top of the priority list after how terrible their offense was last season apart from Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
According to MLB insider Jim Bowden, he believes that the Blue Jays desperately need another bat in their lineup and that Alex Bregman would be a perfect fit for them.
"The Blue Jays need another bat in their lineup and need to improve the makeup and character of their clubhouse," Bowden said. "Bregman would do both, but they'd have to offer much more than the Astros to get him to walk away from Houston, where he wants to play. If the Blue Jays are willing to do an eight-year deal worth more than $200 million, they'd have a legitimate chance to land him. That would give them one of the best infields in the game with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. at first base, newly acquired Andrés Giménez at second base, Bo Bichette at shortstop, and Bregman at third base. -Bowden

There are a few issues when it comes to the Blue Jays signing Bregman as he is searching for top market value which is a contract worth around 8 years at $200 million which is a ton of money for a player that has been on the decline.
The other issue is that if the Blue Jays sign Bregman, they will need to find something to do with their current third baseman Ernie Clement as all the other infield spots are now filled out.
The Blue Jays could use Clement to bring in a solid missing piece such as a starting pitcher or relief pitcher as he does have some solid trade value if he is packaged with a good prospect.
If the Blue Jays are somehow able to get Bregman on a discounted deal it could make sense but paying $200 million over 8 years seems like a stretch.
