The Toronto Blue Jays seem interested in former Boston Red Sox pitcher Nick Pivetta and his projected offer has been announced.

The Blue Jays have been like to the Red Sox former pitcher as they are in need of a starting pitcher and while their top option is still Corbin Burnes, it looks like Pivetta might be a backup option.

The Blue Jays potential offer to Nick Pivetta announced

Pivetta is far from the Blue Jays top option but as they waited around to where Juan Soto would sign and missed out on some of their other top targets such as Max Fried and Blake Snell, they need to prepare in case they miss out on Burnes as well.
According to The Athletic, Pivetta is projected to sign a three year deal worth around $48 million which would pay him around $16 million per season which seems like a fair deal.
Pivetta's projected contract is three years, $48 million (via The Athletic), but given the state of the free agency market, it now seems a safe bet that the righty will command an even larger deal. Luis Severino signed for three years, $67 million with the Athletics, which might constitute a reasonable comparison. -Roberts

However, after Luis Severino signed with the Oakland Athletics for $67 million over three years, Pivetta's value might have gone up since the two pitchers have very similar numbers.
Pivetta has consistently been over a 4.00 ERA throughout his entire career while Severino has been under 4.00 for the majority of his but last season, Pivetta had a 4.14 ERA last season while Severino was at 3.91.
If the Blue Jays end up missing out on their top target, Pivetta could definitely be a solid back up option as his numbers are not incredible but he would bring consistency and stability to their rotation.
The other slight issue is that since Pivetta rejected a qualifying offer from the Red Sox earlier in the off-season, the Blue Jays will have to give up a second round pick after they sign him.
It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays are able to land Burnes of if they will miss out on him like they did on Fried and Snell.
