Former Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano recently spoke for the first time as a member of the Philadelphia Phillies and seems excited to be playing for a World series contender.

The Phillies signed Romano to a one year deal worth $8.5 million earlier this week after the Blue Jays decided to non-tender him prior to the deadline making him a free agent for the first time in his career.

Romano spoke to the media for the first time since signing and discussing how excited he is to be part of such an incredible organization that is consistently competing for a World Series.
"I think there's a standard in Philly," Romano said. "A standard with the players. I guess the city, the fans. It's a high level of performance. A lot of expectations to win, and I feel like I have the same expectations myself. So I feel like those views are aligned there ... just the team in general, just talent everywhere. It's a team built to win the World Series. So I felt like it would be a great spot for me to go join and help contribute to wins." -Romano

The former Blue Jays closer also spoke of how when he was a visiting player in Philadelphia, he always loved their stadium and thought their fans made a great atmosphere for the players at the games.
"I remember we played there (at Citizens Bank Park) last year and I think it was a Tuesday or Wednesday day game," Romano told media during the Zoom call. "And I mean, the place was absolutely sold out. The atmosphere, I mean, just electric. And kind of coming off that series, I was always like 'If I ever got the chance to play here, I think I'd really enjoy it.'" -Romano

Clearly Romano is excited to play for the Phillies as they have an incredible team and truly do have a chance at winning the World Series every year it feels like which is why it must be a fun team to play for.
After how last season went in Toronto for Romano, he is surely excited to get things going with the Phillies but he needs to focus on getting fully healthy before then.
The Blue Jays are hoping that they made the right move in walking away from Romano as if he returns to his prime self, letting him walk for $8.5 million will look like an awful move.
