Jordan Romano speaks on the Vladimir Guerrero Jr contract extension negotiations
The Blue Jays former closer went on the Deep Left Field podcast a couple days ago to speak on his busy off-season and also touched on the Blue Jays contract negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
According to Romano, he believes that it is clear that the Blue Jays should sign Guerrero to an extension as he claims that he is the best hitter that he has ever played with.
«Vladdy deserves to get paid,» Romano said. «Ever since I started with him in high-A, that guy is the best hitter I've ever played with and it's not even close. The stuff I've seen him do like in Double-A, I would never miss a pitch that was thrown to him because I thought I'd see something I'd never see again. -Romano
Clearly Romano knows what he is talking about as he has played with a ton of talented players in Toronto and Know Guerrero very well as they came up through the organization together.
Romano added that it seems to be up to the Blue Jays to make the deal happen as Guerrero loves it in Toronto and would surely sign an extension if the right deal is presented to him.
«He loves it there. I think he needs to get what he deserves. He's such an incredible player, such an incredible guy, too. The guy is an absolute rock star, a phenom. And he's the coolest, most down to earth, been the same way since I met him. Vladdy is the man.» -Romano
Hopefully Atkins agrees with what Romano was saying and gets a deal done soon, if not he will need to start looking at trade options for Guerrero.
