The Toronto Blue Jays are still all in on free agent pitcher Corbin Burnes but it looks like they are also still behind the San Francisco Giants in the latest update.

The Blue Jays desperately need a starting pitcher to add to their rotation and Corbin Burnes is by far the best option available but despite the Blue Jays having the top offer on the table, they are still not the favorites to land him.

Latest update has Corbin Burnes holding out on the Blue Jays for the Giants to raise their offer

A recent report stated that the Blue Jays have made their offer to Burnes which is the top one on the table as it is north of $200 million but it looks like the free agent pitcher is not sold on the contract just yet.
Burnes is from the Bay Area and has thee Giants as his top choice for free agency, which is why he is holding out on the Blue Jays as he hopes the Giants will raise their offer.
Sources: #BlueJays are still in on Corbin Burnes as are the #Giants. Belief is Burnes will hold out on a decision in hopes #Giants will raise their offer. #BlueJays still have highest active bid for him. Additionally, #BlueJays have focused in on Anthony Santander. #MoccBomb
The good news in all of this is that Toronto has the top offer on the table and despite Burnes favoritism towards the Giants, if they do not raise their offer, he will end up in Toronto.
If the Blue Jays end up missing out on Burnes, they will be in an extremely difficult position as there is no longer any bonified aces left on the board apart from him which means they will have to make due with an average starter for the 2025 season.
The only hope that the Blue Jays have is that the Giants do not meet their offer which seems to be the road San Francisco is heading down since they would have increased it by now if that was the plan.
All fans can do at this point is hope that Ross Atkins offer is high enough to lure Burnes away from his childhood team and over to the great white north.
