The MLB has been changing quite a few rules in recent years under the leadership of MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and it looks like more changes are on their way.
Manfred has been changing the game of baseball bit by bit in recent years such as introducing the pitch clock and the "free runner" at second base during extra innings in the regular season.
The MLB will be including Automated Ball-Strike challenge system at Spring Training
The MLB set to include the Automated Ball-Strike challenge system for Spring Training in 2025 as Triple-A has been using fully automated strike zones since 2023 in which they have been also testing out the challenge system.
Manfred plans on having the challenge system tested in Spring Training but will not be testing a fully automated strike zone just yet. The challenge system will allow managers to challenge calls during important moments in the game.

The idea is not to get rid of umpires just yet but for teams to be able to get proper calls in high stake moments during a game in which the real call can be made due to this system.
Manfred made it clear that MLB isn't getting rid of the umpires for this season (although probably in the not-too-distant future). Instead, this latest iteration would give each team a certain number of challenges that they can use during a game on borderline pitches. Challenges must be called in real time. -Gueren
Pitch framing will surely be taking a hit once this system becomes part of the game in the near future and will become completely obsolete one a fully automated system is introduced in the next few years.
