Toronto Blue Jays have big plans for Ryan Yarbrough's return to the team
The Toronto Blue Jays organization is excited to see relief pitcher Ryan Yarbrough return to the team on a minor league deal after being acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.
OFFICIAL: We've acquired LHP Ryan Yarbrough from the Dodgers in exchange for OF Kevin Kiermaier and cash considerations.
Many feel that Yarbrough will be an asset for the Blue Jays as he attempts to have his contract selected which would earn him around $2,000,000.
His style of pitching will certainly complement the Blue Jays bullpen as he has a wide arsenal of different pitches which makes him versatile.
Yarborough hopes to be effective for the Blue Jays
«It made a big difference coming back with how much the coaching staff and everyone said, 'We really enjoyed having you here,'» Yarbrough said. «Just knowing who the people are here, the players, staff, front office. We really enjoyed our time here and it made it easy to come back.» Ryan Yarbrough
What makes Yarbrough so unique is that his style of pitching is unorthodox compared to many other pitchers in the league.
«It's been really seamless coming into camp. Next steps are getting in games.» Doesn't think the ramp up period will be a problem.
He featured MLB's third-lowest average fastball velocity from its 25th-lowest average arm angle. He threw the game's second-slowest curveball with the 10th-most horizontal break. His sinker ranked within the league's 95th percentile in downward movement and 79th percentile in arm-side break. Arden Zwelling
Blue Jays manager thrilled for Yarbrough's return
Blue Jays manager John Schneider gave his take on the return of Yarbrough too the organization and he could not be any happier.
"Thrilled to have him back,» said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. «His pathway to the roster is very similar to what he did last year. Knowing that he can offer length, he can offer an out in a leverage situation. He understands that and there are a lot of different ways he can help us win.» - John Schneider
The Blue Jays will be looking for any help they can find when it comes to their bullpen as the organization continues to evaluate who will be ready and how it will be constructed going forward into the season.
If Yarbrough continues to show what he's made of, and gives the Blue Jays much needed improvement in their bullpen it's a foregone conclusion that he will remain with the team as a Major League player and hopefully help them win some baseball games.
