In a recent report, New York Post MLB insider Jon Heyman has given the Toronto Blue Jays a more favorable rating to keeping their superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr has his projected The Blue Jays as one of the top three teams to signing him.
Heyman reports but the potential asking price that Guerrero junior could land would be somewhere in the $600 million or more which would restrict many teams from inquiring about his services.
Heyman feels Blue Jays could retain Vladdy during free agency
Heyman Also spoke on the Bleacher Report stream and explained that the New York Mets, Boston Bruins in the Toronto Blue Jays would be the top three teams to land Guerrero Jr.
"My guesses would be Red Sox," Heyman said, h/t Athlon Sports. "I don't know what their thoughts are on [Triston] Casas... He was out there on the trade market, so that's no impediment to signing Vlad Guerrero Jr. Mets, I know they say they're gonna be more cautious spending... The Jays, I think he likes the Jays... To me, those are the three teams." Jon Heyman
Many feel that the New York Mets may be more cautious in offering giant dollars to Guerrero Junior's they had just shelled out over $780 million for Juan Soto.
Even with the Red Sox considered a top favorite, many would wait and see if owner John Henry would be willing to shell out even more money after landing Alex Bregman earlier in the offseason.
Blue Jays may have the money after all to land Guerrero JR
Heyman explains that the Blue Jays have an interesting advantage as unfortunate as it was they could not land any top free agents earlier in the offseason, the surplus of cash and the knowledge that Rogers Communications may be willing to spend more money on their team means the team would be willing to give
Guerrero Jr more money in the long run.
There are still two factors on how this below play out, one would be the feeling of president Mark Shapiro and where he sees Guerrero junior favourably for the Blue Jays going forward and whether the Blue Jays can retain Bo Bichette who both players have stated that they would love to remain as Blue Jays for life and play together for their entire career.
Meanwhile, Blue Jays fans will have to wait and see how all this plays out as the next offseason is a long way off and anything can happen in the meantime.
