Trade offer announced between the Red Sox and Blue Jays for Vladimir Guerrero Jr
The Blue Jays are a couple weeks away from the start of the 2025 season and as negotiations on a contract extension are now done with
Guerrero, they might look to trade him if they feel like they have no chance in signing him next off-season.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. does not plan to negotiate a contract extension in the season and will test free agency in November.
The Red Sox and Guerrero seem to have mutual interest in each other and since Boston has been rumored to be shopping Tristan Casas, a deal might make sense for the Blue Jays.
If Toronto does not feel they are capable of re-signing Guerrero jr. during the offseason, they can look to trade him. He could fit in nicely with the Boston Red Sox, who do not seem too committed to having Tristan Casas be the guy at first base. -Bloom
Blue Jays fans want to keep Guerrero in Toronto but if they are going to lose him to free agency next off-season, most believe that the team should trade him as soon as possible since they can still get an incredible return.
If the Blue Jays are able to land Casas in the deal, they will not be getting a player as good as Guerrero but Casas would still be an incredible return which would bring a ton of offense the Blue Jays lineup.
The easy way to go about this Guerrero situation would be giving him his asking price but since the front office does not want to do that, they might be forced to trade him.
