The Toronto Blue Jays need to bring in a starting pitcher this off-season and all reports are pointing towards free agent pitcher Max Fried.
In terms of pitchers, the Blue Jays bullpen is the main concern this off-season but they still need to look at a starting pitcher as their current rotation will not be good enough to actually improve next season.
The Blue Jays look interested in signing free agent pitcher Max Fried
Nicholson-Smith's words sure have some substance as recent rumors have revealed that the Jays are interested in two-time All-Star Max Fried, per MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Who wouldn't be, as Fried happens to be a former NL Cy Young finalist in 2022, as well as a three-time Gold Glove winner, showing that he can get it done with both his pitching and fielding. -Eng
The Blue Jays are rumored to be looking at moving starting pitcher Yariel Rodriguez to their bullpen which would open up a spot in their starting rotation which Fried could fill.
Nevertheless, Nicholson-Smith reasons that by adding to the rotation, a key rotation piece such as Rodrguez could be moved to the bullpen to bolster the pitching staff as a whole and establish precious pitching depth. -Eng
Fried had a solid year in 2024 with a 3.25 ERA to go along with an 11-10 record, 166 strike outs in 174.1 innings pitched which would likely make him the Blue Jays number one pitcher next season if they sign him.
The Blue Jays need to start making moves regarding pitchers in general, from the bullpen to the starting rotation because if they wait to long, they will end up with no one just like last season.
