Former Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco was arrested Monday morning in the Dominican Republic for an altercation involving firearms.

Franco has been on indefinite administrative leave from the MLB since August of 2023 due to an on going investigation separate from this one in which he will stand trial for on December 12th.
Franco, who was placed on indefinite administrative leave from Major League Baseball on Aug. 22, 2023, is due to stand trial in the Dominican Republic on Dec. 12 in a separate case involving charges of s*xu*l ab*se, s*xu*l exploitation against a minor and human tr*fficking, which could result in a sentence of up to 20 years. -Recio

Former Tampa Bay Rays Wander Franco has been arrested once again in the Dominican Republic

According to reports, Franco was arrested this morning for an altercation that took place on Sunday night at an apartment building complex in which firearms were drawn.
Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco was arrested Monday in San Juan de la Maguana, 116 miles west of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic after what two police sources said was an altercation Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in which guns were drawn. -Recio

The police confirmed that Franco, a woman and another man were all detained regarding the incident after two firearms were seized in which one of the guns is said to have been Franco's but the police was yet to confirm if it was a registered firearm.
Police sources confirm that Franco and an unnamed woman were being held for questioning following the incident. Another man was also detained and two firearms were seized, police said.

Espinosa said one of the guns presumably belonged to Franco, who was allegedly fighting with the other man over the woman's attention. -Recio

Despite the Rays having signed Franco to a $182 million contract back in 2021, with all of these issues off the field and possible serious jail time, Franco will most likely very play baseball again.
