To say this upcoming season for the Toronto Blue Jays is one of the most pivotal in its history is likely an understatement as the team may face a difficult decision on how they will handle their future if the season starts poorly.
Many pundits across the MLB feel that the Blue Jays with its current roster configuration will likely win more games than they did last year but there is a dark cloud surrounding this organization with the potential departure of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Bo Bichette.
Young stars hold all the cards with this Blue Jays season
Many feel that if the Blue Jays have a tough start to their first half of the season there's a strong likelihood, they will become sellers at the MLB trade deadline which will be held in late July.
"I wouldn't be afraid to pay him for the player I think he is, rather than the player he was last year." @JimBowdenGM shares why now is the time for the #BlueJays to pursue a Bo Bichette extension with @SNJeffBlair & Kevin Barker.
According to Bleacher Report Zachary D Rymer, The Blue Jays may look at the Milwaukee Brewers as a potential suitor for Bichette as free agent Willy Adames was lost to free agency and they were looking for a new bat.
"Even after an offseason in which they signed Anthony Santander, Max Scherzer and Jeff Hoffman and traded for Andrés Giménez, the Blue Jays are a playoff long shot," wrote Rymer. FanGraphs has their playoff odds at just 38.2 percent, and that is next to a projection for a 82-80 record. If so, they may be doomed to become a seller. And in that case, Bo Bichette will look like even more of a goner." Zachary D Rymer
Blue Jays ready to compete for new season
Despite the naysayers, the Blue Jays and their manager John Schneider prepare for grapefruit league as the team will take on the New York Yankees on Saturday February 22nd as they kick off their spring training and hope for a strong result.
Max Scherzer x Bo Bichette. I'll rule it a line-drive single to left.
With a new season allows an organization to wash away its previous year where the Blue Jays only won 77 games.
With flaws in its lineup, there's a strong possibility they won't win their division but they could also compete and hope that they can find subtraction with this roster and put together a solid first half of the season.
That could change people's minds especially if the team is competitive and showing that they are in this to win.
