The Blue Jays faced the Red Sox at 1:07 PM this afternoon for their first game at TD Ballpark of the 2025 season after beating the New York Yankees yesterday by a score of 6-4.
Blue Jays Addison Barger leaves the game after being hit by a pitch
In the first inning against the Red Sox, Barger took a pitch to the hand and bat knob from a fastball by Garrett Crochet which forced him to unfortunately leave the game.
The first report to come out about the injury has been that it is a hand contusion but the severity on the injury has yet to be announced by the Blue Jays.
Addison Barger, who took a Garrett Crochet pitch off the hand and bat knob in the first, suffered a hand contusion, per Blue Jays.
UPDATE: INF Addison Barger was removed from today's game with a right hand contusion.
The #BlueJays game may not be up, but Addison Barger got hit in the hand in the 1st inning and is now out of the game.
That's not good.
This is terrible new for the Blue Jays as Barger is one of their top prospects and had high hopes for him this season which is why many are praying that the injury is not serious.
As fans saw last year with Bo Bichette, a hand contusion could end up being quite serious as Bichette needed surgery to repair a broken finger that he spent the off-season rehabbing.
Hopefully it is nothing too serious but as of right now things do not look great.
