The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has signed OF Kevin Pillar (#16) to a minor league contract with an invitation to Major League Spring Training camp.
Pillar split last season between the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels, the White Sox DFA'd Pillar early last season and after Mike Trout went down, the Angels decided to sign him which is where he had a strong ending to his season.
In 83 games last season with the Angels, Pillar finished with 7 homeruns, 41 RBIs, a .236 batting average and .291 on base percentage which helped him land this new deal with the Rangers.
Pillar hit .229 last season between the White Sox and Angels. Lifetime, he's a .255 hitter with 114 home runs. He hit a career-high 21 homers back in 2019 with the Giants and has five seasons of double-digit home runs. -Farkas
Blue Jays fans are happy to see that Pillar was able to land himself a contract for the 2025 season as he was a beloved player during his time with the Blue Jays.
This is also a great signing for the Rangers as it is a low risk, high reward situation if Pillar ends up playing like he did last season for the Angels.
