Blue Jays super fan Liz McGuire has some words for Toronto's front office
McGuire became a bit of a local legend last season when she was hit in the head by a Bo Bichette ball which resulted in her having a concussion, a big bump on her head and now her own baseball card.
Must read on Blue Jays Insider
Sitting in a seat down the left-field line on a Friday night in May, Liz McGuire had no idea she was about to become a minor celebrity among Blue Jays fans, but her life changed when a foul ball off the bat of Bo Bichette, travelling at 110 miles per hour, struck her in the forehead. -Wilner
A terrific decision she made at the time was allowing Topps to immortalize her rough night on a baseball card. Her position is listed as «total badass» and the back of the card reads, in part, «She got a pretty sweet knot on her head and even stayed for the entire game.» -Wilner
The Blue Jay fan stated how great it has been for her around the Rogers Centre since being hit by the ball as she stated fan still come up to her and ask for a picture and treat her incredibly well.
As McGuire went on to speak of her new found fame, it is at the end of the interview that she stated that she would not be returning to Blue Jays games next season if the team does not sign Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a contract extension.
While recovering from the concussion that had her feeling «underwater» and «in a different world» she continued to attend Jays games and events, but things might not be the same next season.
«I will not be buying tickets until they extend Vladdy.»
Many fans have been taking this approach since the 2024 season as they believe that the only way to get the team's attention regarding their disappointment is but not showing up to games.
Hopefully McGuire along with the other fans that have decided to not attend games will help Blue Jays management realize that the fans are disappointed in how the team is being run.
