The Toronto Blue Jays fan base are pissed with Ross Atkins once again after the Houston Astros traded Kyle Tucker to the Chicago Cubs yesterday.
The Blue Jays are in need of an outfielder which is why they have been linked to players like Anthony Santander and Teoscar Hernandez but it is also the reason why fans are pissed they did not make a move on Kyle Tucker.
Blue Jays fans are pissed with Ross Atkins for not going after Kyle Tucker
The Cubs announced that they acquired outfielder Kyle Tucker from the the Astros in exchange for first baseman Isaac Paredes, third baseman Cam Smith and RHP Hayden Wesneski.
Here's the news, free and unlocked, from @JesseRogersESPN on the Kyle Tucker-to-the-Cubs trade, with 3B/1B Isaac Paredes, top 3B prospect Cam Smith and RHP Hayden Wesneski headed back to Houston:
Blue Jays fans are pissed with Atkins because it seems like Tucker was not even on Toronto's radar despite him being exactly what they need in an offensively gifted outfielder.
Not only would Tucker have been a perfect fit for the Blue Jays but the Cubs did not exactly give a ton away in Parades, Smith and Wesneski in exchange for him which is why fans believe the Blue Jays could have easily matched that offer.
Atkins you have one job to make the Jays better ONE JOB! Are you telling me we couldn't put together a better package for Kyle Tucker???
MLB insider Jeff Passan even stated that Tucker is one of the most underappreciated players in baseball as he put up 23 homeruns, 11 stolen bases and a .289 batting average in only 78 games.
Kyle Tucker is among the most underappreciated players in baseball. In 78 games last year, he put up more than 4 WAR, hitting .289/.408/.585 with 23 HR and 11 SB. Since getting full-time at-bats in 2021, he's been a consistent 5-win player. He is precisely what the Cubs needed.
Clearly this is exactly the type of player the Blue Jays need but unfortunately he is headed to Chicago.
