The Blue Jays potential offer to free agent Pete Alonso has been announced

The Blue Jays seem more desperate then ever to get some kind of deal done with at least one all-star on the free agent market and they seem to be very interested in Pete Alonso due to the offense he brings.
According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the New York Mets are still the favorites to land him but he stated that the Blue Jays are also up there as they have shown a ton of interest and could end up signing him for $154 million.
After citing a report from Mark Feinsand, FanSided's Jacob Mountz recently reflected on a new suitor in the Alonso sweepstakes: the Toronto Blue Jays. Mountz predicted the Blue Jays to enter the sweepstakes and potentially sign the $154 million slugger. -Pressnell

If the Blue Jays are able to add Alonso and somehow find a way to keep Guerrero, having those two back to back in the batting order could be one of the scariest duos in the MLB.
Alonso would add a lot to this Blue Jays lineup. Toronto could place Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Alonso back-to-back in the lineup, creating one of the most daunting pairings in baseball. -Pressnell

If the Blue Jays do close on Alonso for $154 million over a 5 year term, that would pay him $30.8 million per year which seems like a fair deal especially when comparing it to how much they are paying George Springer.
Hopefully Ross Atkins is able to get some kind of deal done soon since it is starting to get a little scary how little he has done so far this winter.
