During a recent interview, Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr admitted that he was moved to first base back in 2020 as punishment for showing up to Sprig Training overweight.

There were rumors that Guerrero might end up moving back to third base this season if the Blue Jays signed Pete Alonso but since he ended up returning to the New York Mets, it looks like Guerrero will stay at first base.

Guerrero entered the MLB as a third baseman back in 2019 but was quickly moved to first base the following season which is where he has been playing ever since that season.

During a recent podcast, Guerrero admitted that he was punished by former Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo in 2020 when he arrived at Spring Training overweight and his punishment was being moved to first base.
"They moved me (from 3B to 1B) because I was too heavy. In 2020, I was almost 300 pounds. Montoyo told me, 'You're going to play first this year, and that's your punishment for showing up overweight.' I grabbed my glove and said, 'OK,'" -Guerrero

Vladimir Guerrero Sr admitted during an interview that his son showed up to Spring Training in 2020 weighing in at 282 pounds which is almost 40 pounds more than he currently weighs.
The heir of Vladimir Guerrero Sr., an esteemed Hall of Famer, admitted that before the start of the 2020 season, he reported to Spring Training weighing 282 pounds. Currently, the 25-year-old slugger weighs 243 pounds, nearly 40 pounds less than five years ago. -de Dios

Guerrero has admitted that his favorite position is third base and he would love to return there one day but understands why he was moved to first.
