Toronto Blue Jays fans are still hoping a contract extension with Vladimir Guerrero Jr will get done before Spring Training and the latest update states he might end up signing for $700 million.

The New York Mets signed Juan Soto to the largest contract in MLB history this summer on a $765 million deal and while most did not think Guerrero could get close to this number, recent reports suggest otherwise.

MLB reporter Mike Axisa states the Blue Jays might end up signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to $700 million deal

The biggest name in baseball right now is Vladimir Guerrero Jr as many are wondering if the Blue Jays will end up signing him to an extension before the start of Spring Training or if the two parties will be unable to agree on a number.
MLB reporter Mike Axisa recently stated that even though the Blue Jays last offer to Guerrero was only $340 million, they could end up closing around $700 million which would be a historic contract.
CBS Sports' Mike Axisa listed players who could strike an extension before Opening Day and noted Guerrero as a candidate. He suggested that an extension for Guerrero could exceed $700 million in total value. -Mohammed

14 years at $50 million per year would put the total value right at $700 million.

Axisa noted that Guerrero could exceed even that. During an appearance on Abriendo Sports, Guerrero said he is willing to negotiate an extension with the Blue Jays until the first full day of spring training.

However, he also noted that he rejected an offer of around $340 million and that the two sides are not close in negotiations. -Mohammed

Despite Axisa believing that this big of a contract is a possibility, the majority of reports have stated the Blue Jays will likely land closer $450-$550 million with their final offer to Guerrero before Spring Training.
While $50 million per season is not that big of a stretch when looking at how much some of these other players are signing for, the chances seem small that the Bleu Jays would go from $340 million to close to $700 million with their next offer.
Regardless of the final number, fans are simply hoping that the Blue Jays can figure out a way to get a deal done with Guerrero and keep him here for the rest of his career.
