The Toronto Blue Jays have a chance at stealing an incredible prospect from the Los Angeles Dodgers

Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins has repeatedly stated that he is happy with their current catcher duo but with the Los Angeles Dodgers DFA'ing Diego Cartaya, this might be a great opportunity for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays have Alejandro Kirk who is a very solid catcher in the MLB but their problem is they have no real secondary option between Tyler Heineman and Ali Sanchez.
The Blue Jays could steal Diego Cataya from the Dodgers
The Dodgers announced last night they decided to designate for assignment catcher Diego Cartaya who once was one of the best prospects in baseball but has taken quite the fall recently despite being only 23 years old.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms with utility player Hyeseong Kim on a three-year contract for $12.5 million with a two-year club option for 2028 and 2029. The Dodgers designated catcher Diego Cartaya to make room on the 40-man roster.
This could be a very interesting move for the Blue Jays as they lack depth at the catcher position and this move is a low risk high reward type of scenario since Cartaya has proven he can play baseball.
Blue Jays should be all over this. He is a bust of a prospect but as a backup C you won't find a better alternative.
Since they have so little depth at catcher, taking a chance on Cartayacould only benefit them as it'll give them one more option down the line if Kirk ends up getting injured after the decide to play him in the majority of their games.
This seems to be a no brainer type of move for the Blue Jays but that does not mean Ross Atkins will do it as fans have unfortunately seen over the years, the clear move is not always what happens.
