The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking for a pitcher to help their rotation and according to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, Jack Flaherty could end up signing in Toronto.

The Blue Jays were hoping to land free agent Corbin Burnes this off-season but unfortunately they missed out when he decided the did not want to play on the East coast and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Mark Feinsand believes the Blue Jays could close on Jack Flaherty

The Blue Jays still desperately need to add a starting pitcher to their rotation for the 2025 season and as the options are limited, it looks like Jack Flaherty might be their best option.
According to MLB insider Mark Feinsand, the Blue Jays along with the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants and the Detroit Tigers are the top teams to land Flaherty this off-season.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand wrote this afternoon that the Blue Jays, Cubs, Giants and Tigers are among the teams that «remain in the mix.»

Feinsand also listed the Orioles as a suitor, though his column was published before the Morton signing. It's not clear if that'll take them out of the running.

In an appearance on Foul Territory yesterday, Baltimore Baseball's Rich Dubroff suggested the O's could be reluctant to meet Flaherty's asking price. -Franco

Flaherty is coming off a stellar 2024 season which finished with a World Series win with the Los Angeles Dodgers as he put up a 3.17 ERA between Detroit and Los Angeles last season.
He's coming off an excellent season. Flaherty combined for a 3.17 ERA while striking out nearly 30% of batters faced between the Tigers and Dodgers. He walked fewer than 6% of opponents while getting swinging strikes at a strong 13.3% clip. -Franco

Clearly adding Flaherty could change the Blue Jays entire starting rotation but the issue here seems to be convincing him to come to Toronto instead of Chicago, San Francisco or Detroit.
Hopefully Atkins can persuade him with a solid contract as it looks like money is the only way to attract free agents to Toronto.
