The MLB draft lottery took place tonight and the Toronto Blue Jays had one of the worst possible outcomes as they land the 8th overall pick.

Blue Jays fans knew chances were slim to land the first overall pick but 7.5% still gave them a small chance which had the fanbase excited but things took a turn for the worse tonight.

The Blue Jays get the 8th overall pick in the 2025 MLB draft

The Blue Jays were headed into the MLB draft lottery with the fifth best odds to land the first overall pick and were very likely to at least get a pick in the top 5 pick of the 2025 MLB draft.
Unfortunately luck was not on the Blue Jays side as they ended up with the 8th overall pick in which they had Blue Jays legend Vernon Wells there to represent the team for the announcement.
Jays fall from 5th best odds and are picking 8th in the draft.

In a word: Woof
Blue Jays land eighth overall pick in draft lottery. They had fifth best odds of landing No. 1.
Vernon Wells is representing the Blue Jays at the MLB Lottery
The Blue Jays were in desperate need of a top pick as their farm system has been week for quite sometime with only 1 player, Trey Yesavage, ranked in the MLB's top 100 prospect pipeline.
The Blue Jays will now have to find other ways to improve their farm system even if an 8th overall pick is far from terrible.
Hopefully Atkins has a plan in place to turn their farm system around possibly through trades.
