The New York Yankees have stolen the Toronto Blue Jays top free agent target in pitcher Max Fried as they signed him to a monster $218 million contract.

The Blue Jays had high hopes to land Max Fried this off-season as they were one of they were one of the top three teams reported to be likely to land him this off-season but it seems like they missed out.

MLB insider Jeff Passan just broke the news that the Blue Jays top free agent target Max Fried has signed an eight year deal with the Yankees worth $218 million which is the largest guarantee in MLB history for a left handed pitcher.

This is terrible news for the Blue Jays who seem to be all in on Fried especially since their top target in Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets two night ago but it looks like the Blue Jays have missed out again.
If the Blue Jays truly want to turn their starting rotation around in 2025, the only option left is to either sign free agent Corbin Burnes to a monster deal or look at the trading block for options.
