The Toronto Blue Jays now know the exact deadline for signing Vladimir Guerrero Jr to a contract extension as the dates for their Spring Training have been released.
The Blue Jays now know the deadline for up until when they can sing Guerrero
Earlier this off-season, Guerrero made it clear to the Blue Jays that he would not be discussing a contract extension once the first full day or practice hits for Spring Training.
Yesterday the dates were set for the Blue Jays Spring Training as Catcher and pitchers will report for February 13th and the first full squad practice will take place on February 18th which will be the deadline for the Guerrero negotiations.
Blue Jays' first full squad workout is Feb. 18 per MLB release. That's also the deadline for extension talks with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
#BlueJays Spring Training dates:
February 13 -- Pitchers and catchers report. February 18 -- First full squad workout.
I'll be there all spring with full daily coverage at MLBcom. #FloridaMan
This means the Blue Jays now have a little more than a month to get a deal done before Guerrero decides he will not longer talk with them and will wait until next off-season to enter free agency.
There is a good chance that if the two parties cannot agree on a number for an extension before the first full day of Spring Training, the Blue Jays will look to trade Guerrero.
It seems like the Blue Jays only choice here is to give Guerrero the amount he is looking for since he will clearly not budge on his price.
