George Springer hits back-to-back home runs to start the season
George Springer had himself a disappointing season in 2023 as he posted the worst batting average of his career. Additionally, he was only able to manage 21 home runs, and a career-low in on-base percentage.
Coming into the 2024 campaign, Blue Jays fans and analysts were hoping to see an improvement from Springer. Thankfully, they got that right out of the gate. During yesterday's Opening Day match against the Tampa Bay Rays, Springer hit the team's first home run of the season. This sparked other heavy hitters on the roster, as Cavan Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also got to hit some home runs.
Today, the Blue Jays are in the midst of their second game of the season, and Springer is continuing his good fortune. In the Twitter clip below, you can see that Springer was able to hit his second home run in as many games. It was a spectacular moment for the veteran, and we're sure Blue Jays fans were watching along with pride.
"Another day, another #SpringerDinger. He's on pace for 162."

Springer is currently on pace for 162 home runs. Of course, it is highly unlikely that he follows through on that. However, it is a much better start than he had last year. This should instill a ton of confidence in the former Houston Astros star. Whether or not he continues this hot streak, still remains to be seen.
At the time of writing this, the Toronto Blue Jays are losing to the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 5-1. If they were to lose this game, they would fall to a record of 1-1 on the season. You can check out the game right now over on Sportsnet, if you live in Canada. Additionally, you can stay tuned to Blue Jays Insider for more news and updates from around the baseball world.
