Witt wears No. 7 with the Royals, he had a No. 17 jersey at Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas as a tribute to Jeter (No. 2) and Boston's Dustin Pedroia (No. 15).
«Got those two jerseys hanging up on my wall still back in my room at my parents' house," Witt said. «Just how they played the game hard and just how they just would always rise up to the occasion when needed.»

As stated earlier, to prepare for a monster series this weekend, Witt watched some old playoff highlights of Jeter on Thursday night.
«Definitely going to take it all in because everyone talks about playoff baseball in New York,» he said. «So it's going to be pretty special just being out here and just hearing the crowd and just how much history is behind here and everything.»
