The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to make some big moves this summer and it looks like this means the end in Toronto of one of their top prospects in Orelvis Martinez.

The Blue Jays are looking to shake things up this off-season and with their plan to not spend too much unless it is on Juan Soto, they will need to make trades to improve their roster for the 2025 season.

Blue Jays prospect Orelvis Martinez might be done in Toronto

Martinez had a strange season in 2024 as he was incredible in Triple-A which resulted in him being called up to the majors but after only 2 games, he was suspended for 80 games for use of PEDs.
One of the very best hitting prospects in the Blue Jays' farm system, Martinez rode yet another strong Triple-A showing all the way to the big leagues this past season.

We're all familiar with the tale by now, but the long story short is that he made it into exactly one game before a PED suspension wiped out the vast majority of the rest of his year. -Treuden

Since the Blue Jays do not believe that Martinez could be an everyday second baseman next season, they are actively looking for other options on the open market such as Willy Adames and others.
Since the Blue Jays are also looking at multiple trade options, Martinez is probably their most valuable prospect on the trade market which is why they will look to move him in order to improve their lineup.
With his prospect pedigree and plenty of hype still surrounding his name, Martinez is probably the most valuable player named so far. He's so young and full of untapped potential, so it wouldn't be a shock by any means to see him traded away this offseason for a significant upgrade to the big-league roster. -Treuden

While the Blue Jays farm system is already weak and moving one of their top prospects will not help, holding onto him and keeping him in the minors while their team has some serious holes to fill is not a solution either.
Hopefully Atkins makes the right trade as Martinez could have a seriously good return and could help improve the Blue Jays lineup next season.
