Aaliyah Mohammed of the Sporting News reports that Bob Nightingale of USA TODAY and BVM sports Andrew Florio agree that former Blue Jays fan favorite pitcher Marcus Stroman maybe heading north as the New York Yankees are preparing to trade him back to Toronto.

Where Yankees and Marcus Stroman stand: Will he be on the move?

Stroman has one year remaining on his two-year deal that was worth $37 million as he has not lived up to the expectations by the Yankees. Florio seems convinced that the Toronto Blue Jays will be the destination for Stroman.

Two time All Star has become expendable after Yankees land pitcher Max Fried

"The Blue Jays are the team most baseball fans associate Stroman with," wrote Florio. "He spent five-and-a-half seasons in Toronto and placed eighth in the AL Cy Young voting in 2017. A Stroman trade would not change the perception of the team's offseason, but it is a move that could excite the fanbase. Davis Schnieder could be a part of the return after Toronto acquired Andres Gimenez in December." -Andrew Florio BVM Sports

Stroman's first season as a Yankee did not go according to plan as he had 29 starts but had an ERA of 4.31 and was shut out from any postseason play.
With unrestricted free agent Max Fried signing with the Yankees, it's safe to say that the organization has decided to close the door on Stroman and moving on.

Stroman was beloved by many Blue Jays faithful

The 33-year-old picture who stands at 5 foot 7 and 180 lbs was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays, in the 2012 draft, first round 22nd overall.
According to @ByRobertMurray

, a Marcus Stroman trade "appears more likely than not". He's owed $18.5 million for the 2025 season with a vesting option for 2026.

He had spent six seasons with the Blue Jays and was an integral part of the Blue Jays postseason runs in 2014 and 2015. He then had stops with the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees.
It's hard to say what kind of impact he would have with the Blue Jays if he were to return to the team that drafted him.
Last season he had a record of 10-9 with an ERA of 4.31 and a whip of 1.47. It's hard to say whether general manager Ross Atkins and President Mark Shapiro would be willing to make a deal for the veteran pitcher considering his numbers and the cost of his contract.
