General manager Ross Atkins and President Mark Shapiro have felt that Hoffman is healthy enough to play for the Jays and awarded him a three-year deal worth $33 million as they feel there's nothing to be concerned about his health.

It's been documented that he's had some foot trouble as he has had plantar fasciitis which has also affected his left foot often.
The team is looking for a strong closer and if Hoffman can deliver the results the Jays hope for that this will be a upgrade that will help the Jays with their competitiveness.
