Toronto Blue Jays veteran pitcher Chris Bassitt recently spoke on the JD Bunkis podcast about the Blue Jays signing of pitcher Max Scherzer.

Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt speaks on Toronto signing pitcher Max Scherzer

Bassitt and Scherzer played together for the New York Mets back in 2022 and were among their top pitchers as the two veterans combined for 40 percent of the Mets 101 wins that season.

On the JD Bunnkis Podcast, Bassitt stated that the Blue Jays front office did an incredible job landing Scherzer but that he also played a big part is convincing him to sign in Toronto since the two are close friends.
"I would definitely give all the credit to the front office," Bassitt said during an appearance on the JD Bunkis Podcast Friday morning. "But I mean, the reality is, me and Max are good friends, and (I) obviously put in a good word of just telling him how good Toronto is, so to speak. -Bassitt

"So I guess I was somewhat part of it, but in the matter of just telling the truth of how Toronto is, how good it is, how great they take of families and how great Pete Walker is as a pitching coach and things like that." -Bassitt

Bassitt had some serious praises for his former teammate as he said he is one of the best pitcher of all-time and that he is incredible on the mound but in the clubhouse as well.
"I understand the intangibles that don't really get shown on the field, but especially off the field, and being able to push people and being able to help people, Max is one of the best pitchers of all time," Bassitt said.

Clearly Bassitt is a big fan of this recent signing and hopefully the two pitchers will be able to be as good as they were together for the Mets back in 2022.
