Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr recently stated that he will be interesting free agency next off-season which has many teams interested but it looks like his asking price has pushed the New York Mets away.
Mets no longer interested in Vladimir Guerrero Jr after his asking price was revealed
The Mets just signed superstar Juan Soto to the largest contract in MLB history as they agreed to a 15 year $765 million contract which is why there would be complications for signing Guerrero as well.
The New York Mets spent a lot of money this offseason, primarily on outfielder Juan Soto. Soto inked the richest contract in all of sports history with the Mets. Mets owner Steve Cohen and the rest of the front office staff still found ways to build a complete roster after the Soto signing. -Owens
While many do not expect the Mets to make Guerrero a $600 million offer after signing Soto this off-season, it is also not completely out of the cards since owner Steve Cohen has clearly proved he has no problem spending money.
Obviously it would be difficult for the Mets to sign a player of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s caliber after breaking the bank this offseason, but that organization is quickly trying to become the Los Angeles Dodgers of the east. -Owens
Despite it not being a guarantee the Mets will likely not try to spend all of that money on two players which is why most expect them to be out of Guerrero.
They probably didn't to begin with, but if the Mets had any hope of signing Guerrero that hope is now gone. -Owens
Even with the Mets out, if the Blue Jays do not end up signing Guerrero to a long term deal before free agency, he will surely attract attention from multiple teams across the league.
