Last Tuesday, The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated top prospect Orelvis Martinez from the 60-game injured list, which came after he was suspended by the MLB for 80-games. Now, the Blue Jays are all in on his development for next season.
Back in early June, the NLB suspended Martinez for 80-games for violating their 'Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program', where he was quickly optioned to the organizations spring training complex. His suspension does not officaly finish until Monday, September 30th, but was still granted the ability to go down to Triple-A and train and play for the Buffalo Bisons.
In 74 games with triple-A Buffalo this season, Martinez achieved a slash line of .267/.346/.523 with 17 long balls. He only appeared in one full game for the Blue Jays before his surprise suspension was announced, he went 1-3 with a single.
