The Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah is still recovering from an injury that end his 2024 season and it looks like he will be heading to 60 day IL.

Manoah missed the majority of the 2024 season due to a an injury in his elbow which required Tommy John surgery which looks will likely keep him out until towards the end of the 2025 season.
Teams can't place injured players on the list until spring training starts, so Manoah, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, is a prime candidate once eligible. -Farkas

The Blue Jays are set to likely place Alek Manoah on 60 day IL at the beginning of Spring Training

The Blue Jays have known for quite some time that Manoah would not be ready for the start of the season as most thought he would only be ready towards the end of August.
Fans were hoping that his recovery would continue to progress well and that he would end up being ready to take the mound earlier than expected but that does not seem to be the case as he is likely headed to 60 day IL.

If a player is placed on 60 day IL in Spring Training, the 60 day count does not begin until the first game of the regular season which means the earliest Manoah can return is at the end of May.
The 60 day count doesn't start until the first day of the regular season, so Manoah won't be eligible to be back until the end of May at that point. However, he's not expected to return until August at the earliest, so that shouldn't impact the Jays decision making. -Farkas

The good news about Manoah being placed on the 60 day IL is that the Blue Jays will now have an additional spot open on the 40 man roster which they can use since their roster is full for the time being.
If and when he's placed on the 60-day IL, it will open up a 40-man roster spot for Toronto, allowing them to make another move to supplement the roster. For instance they have been connected to third baseman Alex Bregman all offseason. -Farkas
