It's been a tale of two off seasons for the Toronto Blue Jays as it appears that general manager Ross Atkins is saving his offseason with two or more key acquisitions after a dreadful start.

"We want to build upon a team that we feel is a good one... really excited about our opportunity to get better."

@BlueJays GM Ross Atkins spoke with @jonmorosi

at the GM Meetings yesterday regarding potential targets this offseason.
Earlier this winter, the picture looked bleak for the Blue Jays as Atkins and president Mark Shapiro appeared to be unable to sway top and free agents including Juan Soto, Corbin Burnes and pitcher Max Fried.

Santander was the turning point this winter

Blue Jays fans breathed a sigh of relief after the organization was able to convince Anthony Santander to sign with the Blue Jays with a five-year deal that was worth $92 million which included a $13.5 million signing bonus and holding an average salary of $18.5 million per season.

After that signing was completed, the news began to flood through Major League Baseball that other players have been showing signs of interest towards the Blue Jays an looking likely to sign.
All eyes right now are on Pete Alonso who has played for the New York Mets for many years but appears to be down to two teams which are the Blue Jays and the Mets as to where he will go for his next deal.
It's clear that Atkins desperately wants to sign Alonso as the Blue Jays are currently working on restructuring their offence by including a potential signing of Alex Bregman for third base and attempting to lock up Vladimir Guerrero junior to a long-term deal.
And some people said Ross couldn't make any improvements!!

Many pundits feel that if the Blue Jays can pull off these signings, it will vault them into the top echelon of the American League and put them on the map for a potential long playoff run for many years to come.

Much work lies ahead for the Blue Jays and Akins

With all the news circulating around the league that the Blue Jays will be closing in on several free agents signing, nothing has been completed, and Blue Jays fans are waiting to see if the signings will go through.

With Rogers Communications openly admitting that they would like to spend more money to making the team better and have just completed their major renovations being held at Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays need to put a winner together for the fans and for the ownership.
