One of the biggest tasks the Toronto Blue Jays front-office will have this winter is making they they re-sign Vladimir Guerrero to a new contract.
Guerrero is entering the final year of his current deal next season and has stated on multiple occasions he wants to stay in Toronto which is why the Blue Jays need to make it a priority to sign him before doing anything else.
On the broadcast yesterday, Dan Shulman and Buck Martinez stated that they believe it is clear general manager Ross Atkins needs to lock up Guerrero as quickly as possible so that they know what they can afford in free agency.
Buck and Dan making some very good points about Vlad.
The Jays not only need to extend Vlad this offseason they need to do so EARLY!!! Having him locked up can be a powerful recruiting tool with free agents

To know surprise, many fans on social media agreed with Shulman and Martinez as their opinion often reflect how the fans feel which is why they are so loved in Toronto.
Should be their #1 off-season priority. This last off-season's so called priority didn't work out. This one HAS to.
Absolutely. Almost obvious. My beef with management is they have all but destroyed our farm system. And it seems they are not good at evaluating draft prospects. So we need free agents as we can develop homegrown talent.
Earlier the better . The longer they wait the more he's going to cost . If they extend negotiations as the nationals did with harper in 2018 into the season I fear the same will happen with Vlad . He ll move on
Hopefully the front office understand this as well and make it their number one priority to lock up Guerrero for the future but with Atkins and Shapiro still at the helm, anything is possible.
