The Toronto Blue Jays announced last night after they signed Jeff Hoffman that they decided to DFA pitcher Brett de Geus.

The Blue Jays made their first signing of 2025 last night as Jeff Hoffman agreed to a three year deal with the Blue Jays for $33 million with a some incentives worth around $6 million.

The Blue Jays announced that they have decided to DFA pitcher Brett de Geus which means he is now headed for waivers as they needed to make room for Hoffman.

The Blue Jays had no choice but do release de Geus from their 40 man roster as every spot on the roster was fully taken up and they needed to make room for their newest signing.
Moving forward, the Blue Jays will have to do the same thing again if they end up signing another player since with the addition of Hoffman they once again have a full roster.
The Blue Jays are in an interesting situation in free agency right now as they have been linked to players like Jose Quintana and Anthony Santander but have yet to close a deal.
Fans are hoping that the Hoffman signing that took place last night is the beginning of multiple signings to take place in the days to come.
Hopefully Ross Atkins keeps the ball rolling and brings in more talent to help the team for the upcoming season.
