The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be in negotiations with Vladimir Guerrero Jr for his contract extension and it looks like the number on the table has jumped to $500 million since the Juan Soto signing.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr's contract extension number has gone up to $500 million since the Juan Soto signing
According to a recent report, the number discussed in the Guerrero contract extension negotiations has risen to $500 million after Juan Soto signed the biggest deal in MLB history with the New York Mets.
Well my people I will let you know that with the signature of Juan Soto the value of @vladdyjr27 rose to over 500 million and they are already negotiating it and if they do not reach an agreement they will change it before August 1st
The Blue Jays waited too long to lock down Guerrero and now with the Soto deal, it is normal that his current price has gone up quite a bit which is why the Blue Jays should have signed him before this.
Now, the Blue Jays cannot expect to get much of a team friendly deal as Guerrero will be the top free agent on the market next season if they do not sign him to a contract extension.
The Blue Jays will need to make Guerrero an incredible offer if they want to keep him in Toronto as he will be able to go into the free agent market and surely get around $500 million given what players are signing for this off-season.
In a perfect world, Guerrero will take a team friendly deal to stay in Toronto for his entire career but since the Blue Jays took so long to begin talking with him, those chances are very slim.
