Kevin Gausman got the start on Saturday for the Blue Jays as they took on the Yankees, although a horrendous start had him taken out of the game earlier than expected.

Yesterday, we reported on how the Blue Jays were favorites to win yesterday as Kevin Gausman was in the lineup as starting pitcher. The oddsmakers turned out to be incredibly wrong as Gausman had one of the worst starts in his entire career. He gave up five runs in one inning and a third. According to MLB Stats, this ultimately got him taken out of the game in the second inning,
Players like Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge helped propel the Yankees with home runs of their own. However, despite being down 9-2, the Blue Jays almost clawed their way back into the game. They had a home run from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. that sparked what could have been an epic comeback. Instead, the Jays lost, 9-8.

This won't be the end of the world for Gausman. After all, pitchers have bad games all the time. That said, it is not a particularly good look for the Blue Jays right now as they are 4-5 on the season. They need a win today against the Yankees, and that will be a lot easier said than done. Only time will tell if they can pull it off.
The Blue Jays will look at avenge their loss as they take on the New York Yankees again today. The game starts at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. If you live in Canada, the game will be available to watch over on Sportsnet. You can also stay tuned to Blue Jays Insider for the latest news and updates from around the baseball world.
