Free agent pitcher Corbin Burnes does not seem to like the Blue Jays plans
Burnes seems to be down to his final two teams between the San Francisco Giants and the Blue Jays with many putting Toronto as the favorites since they have made the biggest offer with is said to exceed $250 million.
According to reports, Burnes reps met with both teams once again yesterday and despite the Blue Jays having the hire offer, it looks like he is very skeptical of the Blue Jays front office since they have yet to lock down Vladimir Guerrero jr or Bo Bichette.
Sources: Corbin Burnes reps met again with #BlueJays and #Giants today. From what I hear Burnes is skeptical of the #BlueJays future plans surrounding Vladdy and Bo. He doesn't want to get locked up there to see them leave next winter. As for #Giants it's home for him, but (1/2)
This news comes only a few days after GM Ross Atkins stated that the Blue Jays will not have any trouble landing top free agents without having Guerrero signed to a long term deal.
Clearly Burnes is looking for a large payday but he also wants to make sure that he is going to a team that is committed to winning which is why he is skeptical of the Blue Jays since they are saying that they are but failing to make moves to back it.
It has been clear to pretty much everyone except Atkins that top free agents such as Soto, Burnes and Fried as looking for team's that want to win and at the present time, the Blue Jays do not seem to fall in that category.
Atkins needs to start making some serious moves and proving that he is looking to put together a great baseball team if he wants to land players such as Burnes.
