The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking at possibly adding another pitcher as rumors have emerged regarding a trade with the New York Yankees for Marcus Stroman.

The Blue Jays just made a massive addition to their starting rotation by signing legendary pitcher Max Scherzer to a one year deal worth $15.5 million but it looks like they are not done just yet.

The Blue Jays looking to possibly trade for Yankees pitcher Marcus Stroman

The Yankees have been looking at trading Marcus Stroman this off-season as they would like to his his contract off the payroll and most see it as a high likelihood that he is gone by the end of the off-season.
There's probably a 95 per cent chance that Stroman will be traded before spring training begins, and that day might be around the corner by the sounds of it. -Hall

I think it's safe to say we may be getting some Marcus Stroman news very soon!
The Bleu Jays could definitely benefit from Stroman but they would have to move Chris Bassitt as well to free up some room in their starting rotation which is apparently something they are looking at.
The issue with Stroman is that he is 33 years old and still owed $37 million but the good news is that the Yankees are willing to retain a significant portion of his contract.
The Yankees have been exploring trade conversations involving the 33-year-old starter for much of this winter. They've expressed interest in retaining a significant portion of the $18.5 million left on his two-year, $37-million contract - which includes an $18-million vesting option for 2026 that triggers with 140 innings pitched in '25 - to help facilitate a trade. -Hall

Stroman had a rough season in 2024 but was all all-star with the Chicago Cubs in 2023 which is not that far away which is why bringing him to Toronto could be interesting.
