The Toronto Blue Jays are nearing the end of Spring Training but the big story is still Vladimir Guerrero Jr and his contract extension negotiations as new information seems to come out every week.

Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero Jr states he is looking for a 20 year contract

Blue Jays fans were shocked at the start of training camp when the announcement was made that Guerrero and the team did not come to an agreement on a contract extension.
Since the start of Spring Training, more and more information has been coming out regarding the negotiations which has started to sway fans onto the Blue Jays side as it looks like Guerrero was looking for an insane contract.
In Guerrero's most recent interview he stated that in negotiations he was willing to cut his term down to 14-15 years but is ideally looking for a 20 year contract.
In the ESPN interview, Guerrero said that he was willing to lower his demands on both the cash value of his proposed contract and the number of years. He said that he wanted as many as 20 years on the deal. -Pressnell

"I would like 14, 15, even 20 if they give them to me, but doing it the right way," Guerrero Jr. said, according to ESPN, referring to the duration of the contract he wants. -Guerrero

While this would likely not be the highest contract in MLB history since he will not sign for more than Juan Soto it would be by far the longest term deal in history as no one has ever signed a 20 year contract.
During the interview, Guerrero did also stated that despite looking for a 20 year deal, he is not looking to sign for as big of an amount as Soto with $765 million but he is not that far off as he is expecting around $600 million.
Since the Blue Jays do not seem willing to make him this offer, it will be interesting to see if another team in willing to offer him this in free agency next off-season.
