Recent rumors have been suggesting that the Toronto Blue Jays are in contention to landing free agent starting pitcher Nick PIvetta which may prove wrong as an American League rival may acquire his services in the Minnesota Twins.

Blue Jays are interested in Nick Pivetta. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if he ended up being the Blue Jays biggest signing this winter

The right-handed starter may project a contract of $60 million which the Blue Jays seemed to be comfortable to sign but according to Bleacher Report, the Minnesota Twins may be the landing spot.

Twins looking for starting pitcher help like the Blue Jays

"The Twins spent $7.7 million last offseason. They've yet to sign anyone this winter," Miller wrote. "But why couldn't they be in the mix for Pivetta?

They have a solid top three in the rotation in Pablo Lopez, Bailey Ober, and Joe Ryan, and getting Pivetta at No. 4 could be what puts them firmly back in the mix to win the AL Central.

They already have Lopez signed through 2027, while both Ober and Ryan are arbitration-eligible through 2027.

"The same goes for Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax as the primary bullpen options. Might as well bring in Pivetta on a three-year deal and just go all-in (as all-in as Minnesota can realistically go, at any rate) on winning one soon-and worrying about 2028 another day."- Kerry Miller Bleacher Report

The 32-year-old starter was drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2013, fourth round 136th overall. With the Red Sox, his 2024 record is a 6-12 with an E RA of 4.14 with 172 strikeouts threw 145 innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.13.
Brian Murphy from http://MLB.com lists Canadian pitcher Nick Pivetta as a top fit for the #BlueJays Pivetta (31) pitched 145.2 innings with a 4.14 ERA in 2024

Blue Jays continue to search for help in free agency

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins continues to look and discuss with several free agents including former New York Mets Pete Alonso.
The Jays struck out early on in the offseason trying to load up with superstar players but have been relegated to the remaining free agents in an attempt to shore up their offense and starting pitching.
Per @JonHeyman, the #BlueJays are "in" on Victoria native, SP Nick Pivetta.

Many Blue Jays fans are waiting for the news that another major signing has taken place after the Blue Jays signed Anthony Santander last week in the hope to see a major improvement in the roster.
Atkins along with his management team has little time as Spring Training is around the corner and Opening Day Is on April 1st.
