Massive update regarding Pete Alonso and the Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays are currently still in talks with free agent Pete Alonso as it has been confirmed he is their biggest priority as of right now.
The Blue Jays have apparently made a few offers to Pete Alonso but it looks like none of the deals have impressed him enough to sign and walk away from the other interested teams.
Pete Alonso is the top priority for the Blue Jays as of right now but he will not be signing this week according to reports
MLB insider Steve Phillips stated that the Blue Jays main priority this off-season is signing Alonso which seems to be pretty clear but he feels like it is so important because it will also help them land Max Scherzer.
Phillips also added that the Blue Jays offer was not necessarily higher than the New York Mets offer but the Mets have since pulled their offer as they did not like where the negotiations were headed.
"Alonso is an important guy for Toronto... it changes the look for them."

There were also reports this morning that despite the Blue Jays and Alonso being in negotiations for quite some time now, he will not be making his decision this week.
Pete Alonso's decision is not expected to happen this week according to Martino.
The good news is that the Blue Jays are clearly in the front seat in terms of landing Alonso, they bad news is that they are still nowhere near closing this deal which could give time to other teams to get involved.
